On Thursday 7th August, Frances took to the stage with her band in the beautiful 250 year old theatre, Teatro Principal de Puebla, in Mexico. Her ensemble was a mixture of talented local and international musicians, who had travelled to Mexico for a benefit concert held by arts and charity organisation SICA, in conjunction with the 14th Subud World Congress also being held in Puebla.
Four young artists from around the globe came together to each present their own unique set of music, under the title theme Conversations in Music. As the last act for the evening, Frances and her band began with an original song, Such A Beautiful Day and continued their set with some favourite covers and originals, including her Christmas original, Dear Mr Nick, and swinging classic, Deed I Do.
The music was very well-received. A few songs in, Frances performed I Love Paris/La Vie en Rose solo at the piano, for the 600+ audience members. There happened to be a thunderstorm outside, and it was so quiet inside you could hear it pounding on the roof of the huge old theatre! After a standing ovation for the French Medley, the band then came back on stage and joined in for some more originals, including If This Were A Dream, and the folk/country tinged Summer's Song. Their finale was Rain Down on Me, an original which had people dancing in their seats and singing along.
After being called back for an encore, the band finished the concert with a bluesy and heartfelt rendition of Georgia on My Mind. Overall the entire concert was a great success with each performer bringing their own quality and warmth to the stage, and a unique musical voice.
Thank you to everyone to came along to support Frances and the other performers - we hope to see you again at another concert soon!
