Frances is an Australian-Vietnamese artist based in London. A classically trained pianist turned singer-songwriter, her music blends heartfelt and at times playful storytelling with her early roots in jazz and soul.

Raised on the sounds of Ella Fitzgerald, Diana Krall, and Oscar Peterson — and equally inspired by songwriting legends like James Taylor and Van Morrison — Frances began classical piano at five years old, later studying voice at the Australian Institute of Music in Sydney. Frances also began songwriting around this time and recalls being painfully shy about sharing her songs, but she soon found her own unique voice as a result of several inspirational writing trips to Nashville.

Frances’ recent move from her native Australia to the music mecca of London marked a creative turning point that saw her love of jazz and soul blend with a pop sensibility and a desire to connect with her audience more deeply through sharing personal stories in her songs. In April 2025, she headlined a sold-out show at the iconic Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and performed live on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune with her band. Frances’ upcoming single ‘Conclusions’ (out Friday 27th June) is a jazz soul bop with slick horns and a playful take on heartbreak -- and the first release from her new EP Next Flight Home. The full EP is due October 2025 and was recorded and produced in London by Grammy Award-winning engineer producer Cameron Craig (Adele, Katie Melua).

Frances performed her women’s anthem ‘She Will Rise’ live to a global TV audience as the feature entertainment for the Australian Open tennis final. She has supported music legend Dionne Warwick and Grammy winner Gregory Porter, and shared the stage in concert with jazz icon James Morrison. Her debut album Beautiful World (2020), produced by ARIA Award-winner Chong Lim AM (Olivia Newton-John), earned Frances five nominations at the Australian Songwriting Awards.

Only a vastly talented songwriter produces such works . . . she played jazz piano with authentic brilliance.
